WiFi and Internet for Events

INTERNET AND WIFI FOR CONFERENCES

Professional Wi-Fi and internet service for conferences

The internet and WiFi for conferences that enbex sets up serves the rooms, exhibitors, press and live broadcast at the same time. We handle the venue survey, backup lines, installation, operation during the conference and teardown. We work with our own team from our premises on Calle Luis I in Madrid.

CONFERENCES WE HAVE CONNECTED

LARGE
EVENTS

We set up the network for KubeCon Europe 2022 at Feria Valencia and for INCIBE's cybersecurity events between 2018 and 2025. KubeCon and ENISE are international conferences: at KubeCon, the countries with the most in-person attendees were the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom, and ENISE has brought together attendees from more than 20 countries. In both cases, the same network served the session rooms, exhibitor stands running demos, the press and the live broadcast. We cannot name every client or venue, but we also connect tech summits for multinational companies, events for a cybersecurity vendor and product presentations for technology brands.

Tech conferences: KubeCon Europe 2022 in Valencia

In May 2022, enbex set up the network for KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe at Feria Valencia. It used 215 access points, 65 distribution switches and a redundant core of 4 switches. More than 7,000 devices were connected at the same time. The internet uplink was 5 Gbps, split across different providers with load balancing. Installation took 10 days. The details are in the KubeCon Europe case study.

Cybersecurity: INCIBE events

Between 2018 and 2025, enbex set up the network and the audiovisual production for INCIBE events over eight consecutive editions: ENISE, CyberCamp and Safer Internet Day. ENISE, for example, is held every October at the León Congress and Exhibition Center. Each service ran on its own network: audiovisual production, exhibition area, workshops, press, organization and guests. Before opening, the team simulated the loss of an internet line, a switch failure and a degraded fiber segment. This was how the team checked that the backup kicked in. The details are in the INCIBE case study.

Trade shows with session rooms: FITUR at IFEMA Madrid

At FITUR, enbex has been the technical partner of the Andalusia pavilion for more than 6 editions. The network includes WiFi by zone, dedicated connections for TV and radio stations, and internet with dual lines and automatic failover. It also streams events from several rooms at the same time. The details are in the FITUR case study.

What we set up at a conference

A conference network is more than WiFi in the session rooms. Depending on the conference, we set up all or part of this:

Are you ready

to connect your event?

Which conference services depend on the network

Before designing, we look at which services depend on the network and what happens if they fail. As a rule, at a conference there are four:

Attendees in the rooms and common areas

If it fails: Nobody can use the conference app or get online during the talks

How it is protected: Network sized by simultaneous devices, with the power and channel of each access point tuned

Streaming the talks

If it fails: The live stream drops for anyone following the conference remotely

How it is protected: Its own segment with priority and, at large conferences, technical control points by zone

Exhibitors and press

If it fails: Stand demos lose their connection and journalists cannot send video or photos

How it is protected: Wired port with its own network and bandwidth; the press on a separate segment with priority

Accreditation and organization

If it fails: Lines at the entrances and an organization that cannot communicate

How it is protected: Its own network profile for each, isolated from the rest

HOW WE WORK

STEP BY STEP

How we set up WiFi for a conference

A team with more than 15 years building networks for conferences and events

enbex has been setting up WiFi networks for events for more than 15 years and works all over Spain for national and international conferences. Enrique Romero, co-founder of enbex and head of IP network architecture, has been designing and running networks for events, conferences and broadcast production since 2009. Our technicians hold CCNA, CCNP Enterprise with an SD-WAN specialization and CWNA certifications, among others, and we are a RUCKUS Elite partner. The company is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 27001 and ISO 14001 and to Spain's National Security Framework (ENS).

Frequently asked questions

What does the internet and WiFi service for a conference include?

It includes the venue survey, network design, backup lines, installation, technicians during the conference and teardown. We connect the session rooms, the stands, the press, the organization and the broadcast, each on its own segment. You have a single point of contact from start to finish. If it is not a conference but a trade show, a festival or a sports event, the right service is WiFi for events.

There is no fixed number, because the network is sized for each conference. We count the devices that will connect at the same time, not just the attendees, and spread traffic across segments. At KubeCon Europe 2022, the network connected more than 7,000 devices at the same time with 215 access points. Each one was placed after a coverage and capacity survey.

Yes. When a stand needs it, it gets a wired port with its own network, bandwidth and access rules. At KubeCon we installed 300 wired connections for exhibitors, press and media. The press ran on a separate segment, with priority and reserved bandwidth, so they could send video and photos without relying on the public WiFi.

We install at least one backup line, from a different operator when the venue allows it, with automatic failover: if one line drops, traffic moves to the other. At INCIBE events, before opening, the team simulated the loss of a line, a switch failure and a degraded fiber segment. This was how the team checked that the backup kicked in on time.

Yes. At KubeCon Europe 2022, 15 technical control points worked at the same time, each in charge of connectivity and streaming in its zone. At INCIBE events we handled multi-camera production, streaming and recording of the sessions: this is our service for conference streaming.

It depends on the size. At KubeCon Europe 2022, on-site installation took 10 days. Before that there was a coverage and capacity survey to decide where each access point would go. The sooner we know the venue, the rooms and the stands, the more time there is to choose internet lines and test the network.

Tell us in the message the date, the venue, how many attendees you expect, how many rooms and stands there will be and which services depend on the network: accreditation, exhibitors, press or streaming. We will tell you what network we would set up and what backup it needs.
