The business WiFi network installation enbex delivers runs from the site survey to monitoring.

For businesses, hotels, venues and public administrations: from a single building to hundreds of access points spread across several sites. We survey with Ekahau and Hamina and choose the vendor based on each client's use and budget.

What a business WiFi network includes

The first step

Your WiFi network survey

Before installing your company's WiFi network, we survey the space and design it. With the survey in hand, you know what you need and what each part costs.

We survey the building before designing the network

  1. Building floor plan with the material of each wall.
  2. Survey route through every area.
  3. Access points proposed in the design.
  4. Coverage map: the lighter the color, the stronger the signal.
  5. Dead zone behind the core, covered by an added access point.
  6. Concrete core with elevators and stairs: the signal loses more strength passing through it.

Illustration. The real map comes from measurements in your building.

Where each access point goes

How the signal reaches each area

Primary and secondary coverage maps, signal-to-noise ratio, interference and expected throughput.

Where the cabling runs

Switch locations and cable routes, with the PoE power each device needs.

What needs to be purchased

We deliver it as a PDF report, with the floor plans and maps of each floor.

Business WiFi network installation, from engineering to operation

You can hire just the survey, the complete network, or the network and its operation. The size of the project is set by the scope you need, not by a fixed catalog.

This is what an office building's network looks like

  1. Primary internet access. The backup is the dashed line.
  2. Rack with the network core and the PoE switches.
  3. Riser: the cabling that runs up through the building.
  4. Ceiling-mounted access points on each floor.
  5. Coverage area of each access point.
  6. Devices: employees' laptops, guests' phones and IoT sensors.

Through a public tender, the Community of Madrid awarded enbex the WiFi network for 16 care homes for older people, in two lots. We installed around 1,200 Wi-Fi 7 access points, with Cat 6A cabling and 60 PoE++ switches, and SD-WAN routers to connect the sites. enbex monitors the network and resolves incidents in an average of 2 hours.

It is the same work a hotel chain or a company with branch offices needs: a common network template, a phased rollout and a single monitoring service for every site.

All sites on one network, with backup at each one

  1. Headquarters or data center.
  2. Each site, with its local network.
  3. Primary link at each site.
  4. Backup link over 4G/5G or another carrier.
  5. If the primary link goes down, traffic fails over to the backup automatically.
  6. Management of the whole network from a single platform.

Business WiFi network maintenance, even if another company installed it

If your company already has a WiFi network, we can take care of it even if we didn't install it. Before taking it on, we survey it: we measure coverage in each area, review the configuration, the cabling and the switches, and tell you what works and what should be fixed. Then we monitor and maintain it.

What happens when something fails in the network

  1. Network devices report their status continuously.
  2. The monitoring platform gathers information from every device.
  3. If a device fails, the platform raises an alert.
  4. Remote diagnosis and action on the affected device.
  5. The affected access point: red while it is down and lavender again once it recovers.
  6. Every incident is logged, with its alert and its resolution.

  • Failure

Illustration: it does not show real data from any network.

Monitoring

We monitor access points, switches and links at every site, with an alert when something fails.

Tuning

We change channels and power when the occupancy or use of an area changes.

Diagnosis and repair

Remote diagnosis and repair and, in the Madrid region, on-site visits. Every incident is logged, with its cause and its resolution.

Support hours and response time are set in the contract, depending on how critical each network is. On the network of the 16 care homes for the Community of Madrid, the average incident resolution time is 2 hours.

One corporate network for every service, each one isolated and protected

We put each service on its own VLAN and decide which traffic can pass between them. Depending on the architecture and equipment of each project, traffic between segments is also inspected to detect and block intrusions.

Each service on its own network, with traffic inspected

  1. Primary internet access. The backup is the dashed line.
  2. Firewall with traffic inspection and intrusion prevention.
  3. Network core.
  4. Servers and internal systems, protected.
  5. PoE switches: they provide network connectivity and power to the access points.
  6. Access points: each user or device joins the VLAN it belongs to.
  • Employees
  • Guests
  • Voice and IoT

The bouncing purple dot is a guest trying to reach the servers: inspection blocks it.

VLANs and segmentation

Each service runs on its own VLAN: employees, guests, voice, cameras, IoT and network management. The rules for traffic between segments are defined in the design, not afterwards.

The VLAN depends on who connects

You don't need a visible WiFi network for each group. With 802.1X authentication or a per-user key, each person or device joins its VLAN when it connects. Guests browse separately, without seeing the company's devices.

Traffic inspection and intrusion prevention

When the project includes firewalls with inspection, traffic between segments and to the internet is analyzed to detect and block intrusions and unauthorized access. We define it according to the architecture and equipment of each network.

Separate management and ISO 27001

Device management runs on its own network, and the company holds ISO 27001 certification for the information system that supports the installation and maintenance of telecommunications equipment.

What runs on the same network

Video surveillance, access control, building automation and the building's IoT sensors also run on the infrastructure we install. Each one sits on its own segment, with its own PoE power and bandwidth.

Employees and applications

If it fails

ERP, video calls and cloud work stop

How it is protected

Coverage and capacity calculated per workstation, with access points spread out so that if one goes down, the surrounding ones cover for it

Guests and customers

If it fails

Customers and visitors with no connection or, worse, inside the company network

How it is protected

Guest network isolated from the company network, with its own bandwidth

Voice and terminals

If it fails

IP phones, POS terminals or warehouse scanners out of service

How it is protected

Dedicated segment, with priority for voice and PoE switches sized for each device's power draw

Video surveillance, access control and locks

If it fails

Cameras not recording, and doors that don't open or don't log who comes in

How it is protected

Isolated segment, PoE switches with power for every camera and reader, and bandwidth reserved for recording

Building automation and room control

If it fails

Lighting, HVAC or rooms that can't be controlled from the building

How it is protected

Dedicated segment and, on access points with an IoT radio, BLE or Zigbee over the same infrastructure

Building IoT sensors

If it fails

No temperature, humidity, CO₂ or energy data for maintenance and efficiency

How it is protected

Sensors on their own segment, connected through the access point's IoT radio or their gateway, with traffic rules set in the design

Analytics with beacons and digital signage

If it fails

No analytics data and no up-to-date screens

How it is protected

Beacon gateways, analytics server and screens on their own segment, with the network sized for their traffic

WiFi networks for every type of business and building

The method is the same; what changes is what depends on the network. For some sectors we have a dedicated page with more detail.

Offices, headquarters and SMEs

Coverage and capacity calculated per workstation, an isolated guest network and segments for voice and printing. The vendor is matched to the size of the site.

Hotels and hotel chains

Guest and staff WiFi, IoT and room control, event rooms and a common template for every property.

Industry and logistics

Industrial buildings and warehouses with terminals, scanners and sensors that can't be left without a network. We work with several vendors and choose the one that fits the building and the budget.

Schools and educational centers

Classrooms with many devices connected at once, separate networks for students, teachers and administration, and access control by profile.

Care homes and social care centers

Buildings in continuous use, several sites and a network monitored from a single place. This is the project for the 16 care homes of the Community of Madrid.

Public administrations

Networks procured through public tenders, with the technical proposal the specifications require and ISO 27001 and ISO 14001 certifications.

Venues, auditoriums and conference centers

A permanent network ready for peak attendance and, on event days, the same team running the network.

Transport

Onboard connectivity for buses, trains and helicopters, with the vehicle network linked over mobile networks.

Is your sector not on the list?

If the network supports your operations, the method is the same: measure, separate services and test before installing.

Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7: what your business needs

The generation is chosen by the devices and the user density, not by how new the access point is. A Wi-Fi 7 AP only delivers its improvements to compatible laptops and phones, so before choosing we check which devices the company uses.

Wi-Fi 6

Offices and sites with recent devices and a tight budget.

Wi-Fi 6E

Crowded spaces where the 5 GHz band gets saturated.

Wi-Fi 7

High density, video and critical applications, with MLO to use several links at once.

Wi-Fi 7 adds wider channels and MLO, which uses several links at once. In the EU, the 6 GHz band only has room for one 320 MHz channel, so in a network with many access points we design with narrower channels. We explain it in more detail in our article on the evolution of WiFi.

What each decision-maker looks at

Architecture

VLAN segmentation with access policies, traffic inspection depending on the project, SD-WAN between sites and the Wi-Fi generation chosen for the devices. Our technical team holds CCNA, CCNP Enterprise and CWNA certifications, among others.

Continuity

Every device is configured and tested in our lab before installation. Access points are spread out so that if one goes down the surrounding ones cover for it, and enbex can monitor the network.

Frequently asked questions about business WiFi networks

The price depends mainly on the cabling and the number of access points, and both come out of the site survey. An office that is already cabled and a warehouse with no network cost very different amounts, even with the same floor area. That is why we don't give a figure blindly: the quote is prepared after surveying the space, in blocks, so you can see what each part costs.

Yes, if you hire it. Once the network is in service, we monitor the access points, switches and links at each site, adjust channels and power when the use of the space changes and take care of maintaining the installation. Support hours and response times are agreed in the contract, according to how critical each network is. That is how we work with the network of the 16 care homes of the Community of Madrid.

Yes. We start by surveying the network: we measure coverage, review the configuration, the cabling and the switches, and tell you what can be kept and what should be fixed. Based on that survey, we propose a monitoring and maintenance contract with the support hours and response time your network needs. In the Madrid region it includes on-site visits; elsewhere, support is remote.

By placing each service in its own VLAN with access policies, isolating the guest network and deciding what traffic passes between segments. When the project includes firewalls with inspection, traffic is analyzed to detect and block intrusions. Device management runs on a separate network.

Yes. The survey starts by measuring the network you have today. With that data we decide what can be reused, such as the cabling or the switches, and what should be replaced.

In offices and headquarters, hotels, care homes, industrial buildings and warehouses, schools, event venues and transportation, with onboard connectivity for buses, trains and helicopters. For some sectors we have a dedicated page: WiFi networks for hotels, industrial WiFi and WiFi for schools.

Yes, including through public tenders. That is how the network for the 16 care homes of the Community of Madrid was awarded. Today enbex holds ISO 27001 and ISO 14001 certifications, which tender specifications may require as evidence of the bidder's capacity, and we prepare the technical proposal with the network design the specifications require.
